Green Careers Week Resources
Green Careers Week 2024 takes place from 4th to 9th November. These ready to use resources featuring Oxfordshire businesses include films and lesson plans that you can use in the classroom.
The resources have been created in partnership with Oxfordshire Careers Hub by Lindsay Powell, Director and Founder at Elvee Skills Solutions and The Plastic Goldfish Company. Each film comes with an accompanying lesson plan and resources that include activities for older and younger students. Please share these resources with the relevant departments in your school.

Activity: Bid writing
Younger students: Write a paragraph responding to a tender to say why Beard are the right construction company for that job
Older students: Exploration of the aspects of bid writing and how to open your bid in the more persuasive way

Activity: Supply chains
Younger students: Consider your school lunch yesterday and the origins of the food that made up that meal.
Older students: Consider the variety of supply chains within a hotel / restaurant setting. How far back can you take a supply chain? How difficult is it to make a supply chain net-zero?

Activity: Competition to redesign the bus charging zone
Open to all students: Schools select their 2 best entries and send to lindsay.powell@elveesolutions.com. Winning school will receive 10 trees to plant
Extension for older students: Consider the bus redesign needed and issues arising for an electric bus where the battery contributes significant weight

Younger students: Design a logo to encourage people to think about sustainability within the NHS around the line Lower Emissions = Lower Admissions
Older students: Write a persuasive headline / article to encourage people to engage with the NHS mission to net zero

Activity: Plan a project for collecting and analysing data on nature. Terry Hurley is a Trustee of Earth trust and gives an insight into the Earth Trust as well as how to develop your green skills through volunteering with organisations such as Earth Trust.

As the official technical education partners of Green Careers Week 2024, WorldSkills UK are hosting free interactive online events for students from KS3 to KS5. This includes a green technology and engineering event with British Airways.
Farming Virtual Work Experience
This on-demand Springpod programme is for students aged 13+ and includes an introduction to the sustainable food production process, a deep dive into animal welfare and environmental management and the opportunity to explore a range of rewarding careers in farming.
