Local Skills Improvement Plans (LSIPs)
The Skills for Jobs White Paper set out the government’s blueprint for reshaping the technical skills system to better meet the needs of employers and the wider economy.
As part of this new approach, the Department for Education has introduced Local Skills Improvement Plans (LSIPs) and a strategic development fund (SDF).Â
Local Skills Improvement Plans
LSIPs  will provide an agreed set of actionable priorities that employers, providers and stakeholders in a local area can get behind to drive change.Â
LSIPs  will:Â
- Place employers at the heart of local skills systems.Â
- Facilitate direct and dynamic working arrangements between employers and providers.
Employer representative bodies have been designated to lead the development of LSIPs for all 38 areas of England.Â
The Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce (TVCC) has been designated by the Secretary of State for Education as the Employer Representative Body (ERB) for Oxfordshire and Thames Valley Berkshire. The areas are defined by the Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) boundaries.Â
Oxfordshire Local Skills Improvement Plan
The Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce (TVCC) is leading on the Local Skills Improvement Plans (LSIPs) for the Oxfordshire and Thames Valley Berkshire areas, as the designated Employer Representative Body (ERB). They have created a report which sets out the priorities and plans.
